An audacious project, production site expansion in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie

Groupe Beneteau celebrated yesterday the laying of foundation stone of the expansion project for La Begaudiere production site located in the French town of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. This historic plant, built in 1981, is currently being renovated and extended.

This demanding project, that includes an extension of 13,000 sq. meters, will be carried out in only 15 months and aims at increasing the production capacity of the site. Meanwhile the plant continues with its current boatbuilding activity.

With two additional production lines, La Begaudiere plant will be able to manufacture larger sail and motor boats, up to 70 feet hull length.

The overall investment is above €14 million and will contribute to further improve working conditions for the 250 employees currently working there. Once completed in spring 2020, some 150 new direct jobs will be created locally, rising to challenges of both growth and generational transition among staff. The increase in the production capacity of La Begaudiere site will also strengthen the port activity in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, where the boats will be prepared and launched after their construction.

Having more than 5,000 staff members working in the French region of Vendee, Groupe Beneteau confirms its long-term presence locally, with six of its sites located in the Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie municipality communities.
